ABOUT THE LAKE SNOWDEN FISH HATCHERY

The Lake Snowden Fish Hatchery is in Southeastern Ohio and serves as a teaching facility for young scientists interested in developing a career in Fish Management and Aquaculture Science. The hatchery is operated by the students, and all sales of goods and services directly benefit the educational program.

SAUBER ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER

The Sauber Environmental Center is located within the Lake Snowden Campground. This is the primary teaching facility used by the Fish Management and Aquaculture Science Program due to its close proximity to the teaching hatchery and fish management shop on the bottom side of the Lake Snowden dam. This allows us to teach lectures in a formal setting followed by on-the-job training in the Fish Hatchery, on boats, and in the Fish Management Shop.

LAKE SNOWDEN FISH HATCHERY

The Lake Snowden Fish Hatchery is an educational hatchery where students get to participate in the operation of the facility to provide on-the-job training in a hands-on fashion. This is typically completed through the lab portion of their coursework and also through student internships.
